LED THEATRE HOUSE LIGHTS (Maintenance access problem)
Client: The Lights
The Lights, a regional centre in the UK for entertainment, arts and the community, has undergone a complete refurbishment and modernisation programme. Savenergi was commissioned to provide the house lights for the main auditorium.
Maintenance costs for the lighting have traditionally been extremely high due to the access difficulties of replacing blown lamps in the roof area, above the tiered theatre seating. The solution was to provide a completely new lighting system of LED floodlights, which use only 500W of power in total, and provide good light levels for theatre performances and instructional lectures.
These new house lights are expected to last 20+ years on their current operating cycle and use about 25% of the original electricity. It is the first theatre in the UK to utilise power-white LEDs for the house lights and believed to be one of the first in the world.
