2-STAGE WAREHOUSE LIGHTING EFFICIENCY (Unipart East Midlands)
Client: Unipart Consumer Logistics, East Midlands
2-Stage Implementation
The energy efficiencies were obtained in 2 stages spread over 2 years, separated by time and operational requirements. The first stage was to keep the original lights and install a voltage controller. This created a 26% saving. The voltage controller paid for itself in months, thereafter yielding pure savings straight to the Unipart profit line every month.
The second phase of the project was to replace all the inefficient lights once they were at the end of their useful life.
The main warehouse old-style discharge lamps were changed for high efficiency hi-bay fluorescent luminaires, coupled with daylight-linked controls, to switch off unnecessary lights when the ambient light was sufficient, and occupancy detection to switch off lamps when nobody was there. The results of the above are half-hourly monitored to ensure actual realisation of the cash savings.
All offices were fitted with appropriate daylight and motion-sensing automated control switches.
The 2 phases yielded a massive 70% saving on the original consumption. A results summary is contained in the Case Study PDF document (click button)
