The trial proved positive. LED Hi-Bay floods were used for the first time at a height of 10.4m, providing good white lighting. The energy consumption was down, as was the refrigeration cost, each 1 Watt of heat output from the SON lamps swapped for the low heat output of the LED luminaires, meaning 1 less Watt of heat to remove from the cold store by the refrigeration plant.
80% electricity savings were achieved, coupled with reduced carbon emissions.
